Fireflies had their origin in

China and Japan where thoughts

were very often claimed from

me in my hand writing on fans

and pieces of silk.

《流螢集》來源於我的

中國和日本之行;

人們常常要求我

親筆把我的思想

寫在扇子和絹素上。

My fancies are fireflies,----Specks of living light

twinkling in the dark.

我的幻想是壹群螢火蟲,----活躍的火花,閃耀在黑暗裏。

The voice of wayside pansies,that do not attract the

careless glance,murmurs in these desultory lines.

路旁的紫羅蘭吸引不了那疏忽的目光,它的聲音卻在這些零星詩句裏呢喃。

In the drowsy dark caves of the mind dreams build their

nest with fragments dropped from day's caravan.

在這沈寂晦暗,心的巖洞裏,夢用白天沙漠裏旅行遺落的斷片營造香巢。

Spring scatters the petals of flowers that are not for

the fruits of the future,but for the moment's whim.

Joy freed from the bond of earth's slumber rushes into

numberless leaves,and dances in the air for a day.

may lightly dance upon time's waves

when my works heavy with import

have gone down.

and take a farewell flight in the sunset sky.

lights all her stars.

天空雖然想把大地新娘抱在懷裏,卻總是無限遙遠。
