《垂死者》是很多人都熟悉的英文歌 Seasons In The Sun 的法文原唱，由著名詩人作曲家 Jacques Brel 寫於1961年。1964年被填上英文歌詞，定名為“Seasons In The Sun”，但直到1973年才被加拿大歌手 Terry Jacks 重新翻唱並在加拿大和美國獲得了前所未有的成功。
這是壹首面臨死亡的人的遺囑詩，向他壹生和自己分享歡樂悲傷的愛人朋友甚至情敵道別，囑咐他們照顧好自己的妻子。。。
就在73年英文翻唱推出之前，Jacques Brel 在他歌唱生涯巔峰之時宣布退休，全球歌迷震驚了，但詩人沒有給出任何解釋。之後平靜的六年，Jacques Brel 和癌癥做著最後的鬥爭，終於不幸在1978年10月9日被病魔吞噬。讓人不禁想起他生前的這首《垂死者》。
seasons in the sun是壹首很著名的歌，但是它背後的故事又有幾個人知道呢？
三個人，我們姑且稱他們為A、B、C。在50年代的法國鄉村，他們是同壹所高中的同學。A和C是從小壹起長大的、最要好的朋友，B是漂亮的女孩。通常在這種故事裏,我們很容易想象發生了什麽事情，A和C同時愛上了B。A是那種很陽光、很樂觀、很拉風的男孩，是學校的運動明星，是很多情竇初開的少女仰慕的對象。生活對於A來說充滿的只是快樂和單純。而C害羞、內斂，畫得壹手好畫。早在A和B相愛之前，C已經默默的愛了B很久，但是沒有人知道。這份愛被藏在心底，直到畢業後A參軍、C成為壹名木匠，直到戰後A返回家鄉和B結婚，直到婚後A找到工作當上壹名貨車司機…… A經常離家工作很長時間，B打理著外婆留下的鄉村雜貨店，有太多的事情需要男人的幫忙，C就這樣擔負起了照顧年輕的母女的責任。天長日久，大家都想象得到的事情就那樣發生了。A樂觀的天性加上對妻子的愛、對摯友的信任使他對此茫然無知。直到壹個大雪封路的冬天，A在出車的半夜折返家中，發現了壹切……面對驟然被生命中最重要的兩個人出賣這個難以接受的事實，A失去控制殺死了他們。當天深夜，A向警察局自首，兩個月後被判壹級謀殺罪名成立，於第二年初春執行死刑。在死刑執行前的第三天，A在獄中寫了三段話，分別寫給他最好的朋友C、他的父親和他四歲的女兒。在即將離開人世的時刻，他仍然將C看作最好的、生命中最值得信賴的朋友。這個A，叫做Jacques Brel。他寫下的這段話最初的名字叫"Le Moribund"，直譯的意 思是"the dying man"。Rod McKuen將之翻譯成英語，並套上壹首法語歌的旋律，這就是最初的"seasons in the sun"。十年後，Terry Jacks無意中聽到了這首歌，經過他的演繹，歌曲從此紅遍全球，被很多很多人翻唱，其中最著名的就是westlife。
