現在我們知道了稗子有很多用處，但是《聖經》上記載的據認為是毒麥的壹種田間有害雜草。
如：
稗子，就是那惡者之子。
The weeds are the sons of the evil one.
及至人睡覺的時候，有仇敵來，將稗子撒在麥子裏，就走了。
But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
田就是世界，好種子就是屬天國的人，稗子就是屬那惡者的人。
And the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, and the darnel are the sons of the evil one.
