take after ?長得像.../性格特征像...
after是“在。。。之後”的意思，結合take“帶走”的意思，想象壹下，把某人的相貌、特征性格都帶走了，於是就像某人了。
Tom's bad temper takes after his father.
Tom 的暴脾氣隨他爸。
Lucy takes after her mother.
Lucy長得像她媽媽。（這裏的take after可以換成look like）
註意不要把take after 和look after“照顧”記混淆了~

take away 帶走、拿走
away本身就是“遠離”的意思，所以take away就是“帶走，拿走”的意思了。

take back 退回、退還、歸還；收回、撤回
back是“ 往回”的意思，所以yake back就是拿回去=退還。

take in 吸收、攝入；收留、收容
in有“往裏”的意思，如果指的是動植物把吃的喝的呼吸的東西‘帶’到身體‘裏面’去，就是“吸收、攝入”的意思了；如果指人把無處可歸的人帶到自己的地方去，則是“收留”的意思。

take off 起飛；脫下；（事業）成功；請假
“off”指壹個物體與另壹個物體分開、脫離。與take搭配起來，就可以指（飛機）起飛，也可寓意為事業的騰飛；衣服、眼鏡、帽子等與身體分離，就是“脫下”的意思。off還有不上學、不上班的意思，所以take some time off就是“請假”的意思。

take up 占據（壹定的時間、空間、精力...）；開始從事...
《柯林斯英漢詞典》是這麽說的：如果妳take up壹個活動或壹個學科或壹個工作，則指妳變得對它感興趣並且花時間去從事了並把它變成妳的壹項興趣或工作了。
