nearly,almost雖然都可以表示“幾乎”，但是當要表示“接近”或“就要到了”時最好用nearly；當想表達“不足”或“尚差壹點兒”時最好用almost?
almost“將近”“幾乎”“差不多”，主要指程度上的差別，空間的距離，時間的長短等都相差無幾。但相差程度較小。
nearly“幾乎”將近“相近”，所指時間壹般比almost長，所指距離或相差長度壹般比almost大。
