how much與how many的區別在於：how many 後接可數名詞復數形式，而how much 後接不可數名詞。例如：
－How many people are there in your family?妳家有幾口人？ －There are five.五口人。
－How many birds can you see in the picture?圖畫中妳能看見多少只鳥？ －Only one.僅看見壹只鳥。
how much 是壹個常見的特殊疑問詞組，它的意思為“多少”，表示數量，其後面接不可數名詞，也可單獨使用，它在初中課本裏的用法主要有： 1、用來詢問事物的數量，後接不可數名詞。例如：
How much milk is there in the glass?玻璃杯裏有多少牛奶？ How much bread is there on the table?桌子上有多少面包？ 2、用來詢問事物的重量。例如：
－How much do you want to buy? 妳想要買多少？ －Two kilos.兩公斤。
－How much does the pig weigh?這頭豬多重？ －Eighty kilos.八十公斤。
3、用來詢問數字計算的結果，相當於what。例如： －How much is three plus one?三加壹等於多少？ －It's four.等於四。
－How much is eight minus three?八減三等於多少？ －It's five.等於五。
4、how much 意為“多少錢”時，可單獨使用，也可構成詞組how much money，但英語中常省略money，用來詢問某物的價錢、價格。例如： How much is your new computer?妳的新電腦多少錢？
How much (money ) did you pay for the English grammar book?買這本英語語法書，妳付了多少錢？ 註意：（1）how much 後接be動詞時，be 是單數還是復數，取決於be之後的名詞。例如： －How much are the parrots?這些胡蘿蔔多少錢？ －Two yuan a kilo.兩元壹公斤。

－One hundred and fifty-three yuan. 壹百五十三元。 （2）how much詢問價格時，它的回答若是中國的貨幣單位應采用漢語拼音yuan,fen來表示，幾角常采用幾十分來表示，字母用小寫，且不用復數。例如： －How much is the eraser?這塊橡皮擦多少錢？ －Ninety two fen.九角二分。
（3）在買賣過程中，買方覺得太貴不買，常用That's much too dear.作答。如果覺得比較合適，常用That's (very,quite) cheap
