關於這首詩，在1924年的清華大禮堂，徐誌摩和林徽因曾壹起朗誦，後來，徐在壹個傍晚將茉莉花瓣抖落林手心，轉身離去，未說壹語，如同青澀少年般表達了自己的愛慕之情。但林已有丈夫，後來，林說徐愛的是那個他想象出的林，並非真實的自己，果然聰明如徽因。
